Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal User: release.debian.org@packages.debian.org Usertags: transition X-Debbugs-Cc: xen@packages.debian.org, hans@knorrie.org, maxi@daemonizer.de, team@security.debian.org Control: affects -1 + src:xen We would like to update xen to 4.20 for Trixie. This gives us the benefit of about 7 month longer upstream security support during the lifetime of Trixie (till about March 2028). The Debian xen team does not have the resources to provide security support without upstream support, so we usually end security support in Debian when upstream support ends. Xen 4.20.0~rc2+1-gfcde5e0de8-1~exp1 is already in experimental and the automatic transition tracker at https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/auto-xen.html looks good. I did a rebuild of all the three reverse-dependencies listed on the transition tracker (kexec-tools, qemu, libvirt) with xen 4.20 and found no issues. Xen 4.20 final release is scheduled for March 5th [1]. We can either upload the final version shortly after the release date or already now the latest upstream stable-4.20 branch. As upstream is in hard code freeze there are only very small changes expected till the final release. Please let us know the opinion of the release team about this request.
