Bug#1032993: release.debian.org: key packages: mksh should not be a key package

Control: retitle -1 Build-Depends for tests should not be key packages
Control: tags -1 confirmed

mksh is only a key package because shunit2 build-depends on it.

Ack.

(Would be nice if the key package status is shown in tracker or so…
I was surprised by its presence in the list.)

That would need somebody to work on a patch for the tracker. :)

However, shunit2 only uses it at build time to run its tests
against and its testsuite runner only fails if the last shell,
which is zsh, fails.

Which is a bug in shunit2. Has that been reported?

Anyways, to come back to your request, we already communicated [1] that we intend to change the key package situation, but that will be after the bookworm release.

Paul
