Bug#991415: unblock: kdump-tools/1:1.6.8.4
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian.org@packages.debian.org
Usertags: unblock
Please unblock package kdump-tools
[ Reason ]
Addresses two bugs:
[ Benjamin Drung ]
* Fix broken status log messages when dumping w/ FTP (Closes: #991412).
[ dann frazier ]
* Add /var/lib/kdump to debian/kdump-tools.dirs to avoid errors
creating the initial set of boot file symlinks (Closes: #991175).
[ Impact ]
The first can have a significant impact to users who are trying to setup
FTP dumps because the output suggests the package is misconfigured even
when it isn't.
The second can cause a first boot service startup failure because the boot
file symlinking process assumes /var/lib/kdump already exists.
[ Tests ]
I did a manual FTP dump test to verify the correct messages, as well as
upgrade/remove/purge tests.
[ Risks ]
I consider both bug fixes to be trivial.
