Package: release.debian.org User: release.debian.org@packages.debian.org Usertags: transition Hi people. I'd say we are ready to flip another switch after #902582 and make python3.7 the default python3 version. This already happened in Ubuntu disco and there have been only few autopkgtest failures, all reported and fixed. Unfortunately the bugs were not consistently tagged, so digging them up would be a pain now… As a first step, please set up the transition tracker, re-using https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/python3.7.html is probably good. a tentative transition tracker: affects: .build-depends ~ /python3-dev/ | .build-depends ~ /python3-dbg/ good: .depends ~ /python3 \(<< 3\.8\)/ | .depends ~ /(lib)?python3\.7/ | .depends ~ /python3-dbg \(<< 3\.8\)/ | .depends ~ /(lib)?python3\.7-dbg/ bad: .depends ~ /python3 \(<< 3\.7\)/ | (.depends ~ /(lib)?python3\.6/ & !.depends ~ /(lib)?python3\.7/) | .breaks ~ /python \(>= 3\.7\)/ | .depends ~ /python3-dbg \(<< 3\.7\)/ | .breaks ~ /python3-dbg \(>= 3\.7\)/ -- regards, Mattia Rizzolo GPG Key: 66AE 2B4A FCCF 3F52 DA18 4D18 4B04 3FCD B944 4540 .''`. more about me: https://mapreri.org : :' : Launchpad user: https://launchpad.net/~mapreri `. `'` Debian QA page: https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=mattia `-Attachment: signature.asc

Today python3-defaults migrated and so this transition is now over. We still want to complete everything and remove 3.6 from the supported versions (even I'd say even remove it completely if we manage), we will get back to it soon. I want to explicitly thank you ivodd and pochu for their effort in making the whole stak migrate when it entangled with hdf5 and whatnot… (closing this tracking bug) -- regards, Mattia Rizzolo GPG Key: 66AE 2B4A FCCF 3F52 DA18 4D18 4B04 3FCD B944 4540 .''`. more about me: https://mapreri.org : :' : Launchpad user: https://launchpad.net/~mapreri `. `'` Debian QA page: https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=mattia `-Attachment: signature.asc
