As discussed on IRC (#debian-devel), the earlier syntax (-V with a version) was fine, and more accurate as it only needs to be bumped when symbols change. However, using -V without a specific version should get us updated dependencies every time; they might be stricter than needed, but that's better than forgetting about bumping the version IMHO, so fine with me.
