It isn't how I would have done it either, but Alexandre says it's code that
is already well-tested in other SDL1 games. We'll hopefully have something
better for buster, probably using SDL2's SDL_ShowMessageBox() rather than
subprocesses (but at the moment opentyrian is still stuck on SDL1).
