Bug#650601: libpng is going to be NMUed soon.

Hi, as said by -release team, the open transition are ending, and this opens a slot for libPNG.

the work is already done, we just need to upload on experimental, wait some little time, and
pull the trigger (yes, after an ack :) )

I did some little rework of the package, in bug #813027
(fixing lintian errors, and some rules refactoring).
I would like to NMU it for experimental, with providing a *real* libpng-dev
package.

this will ensure next transition will be handled better, and should make this transition even faster.
(and versioned depends are a good thing for libpng).

So, timeframe is:

1) provide a real libpng-dev and upload on experimental in 7 days starting now.
(I'm going to upload on deferred/7 in a few minutes/hours)

2) do some testing and fix possible issues.

3) wait for -release team

4) go for unstable.

If I understand correctly, a real package will avoid an upload of the old libpng12 that has
a simple "Provides".

Let me know if it sounds good to you!

Stretch is going to freeze in some months, and I don't want to be in a hurry, or have the next stable with libpng12.

the work is done, doing it again will be a waste of everybody's time.

cheers,

G.
