Ok, for a small transition like this, it will not be an issue. But for
large transitions, this can complicate matters.

Well, 2.5.2-2 has it, so that won't complicate anything after that one.

Before you start working on this transition, you should note it's my
first transition so I'm a bit anxious and inexperienced

There is a first for every one. :) Fortunately, it is a rather minor
transition, so it will be easy to keep track of.

I definitely hope so :-)

Ok. If everything goes well, you will only need to upload flint and we
will handle the rebuild of singular.

Yes.

The plan from here.

  * I will check up on if we can schedule flint now. There are some
gcc libraries above flint that have not been checked yet.

Good.

  * After that I will follow up with an "Good ahead" or a "Please wait
    for X".

  * Once you get a "Good ahead", please arrange for flint to be uploaded
    to unstable.

This is why I put the debian-science mailing-list in X-Debbugs-CC : I'll follow-up there and hopefully things will go fast.

  * Notify us once it has built on all architectures in unstable.
    - Should there be complications (e.g. unexpected build failures),
please resolve them (and let us know if it will take a while).

I'm pretty confident about the result.

  * We will then schedule binNMUs for the reverse dependency.

Good.

  * After a few days flint and the rebuilt singular should migrate to
    testing.

  * Once libflint-2.4.5 has left testing, the transition is over and we
    will close this bug.

Excellent.

Thanks,
~Niels
