That would be unfortunate, since the 0.8.x series contains tons of
bugfixes, some of them are very important for Debian, and some of the
new functions are required (= it works better with PK 0.8.x) in newer
GNOME releases.
I spoke to Julian, and we agreed to remove the compat-layer from the
Aptdaemon package for now, with the option to reintroduce it later, if
necessary.
The new packages will be in place withing the next few days.
