Then it should have been fixed in sid earlier, before uploads stopped
being accepted for the point release. I'm still slightly confused as to
why a DELAYED upload was made, as all the people involved appear to be
maintainers of the package.

I'm not entirely sure why having it in a point release is a blocker in
any case, as I seem to remember such fixes being released via the -edu
archive in the past and folded in to point releases later on.
