Hi, we, Debian Xfce maintainers, would like to start uploading Xfce 4.10 to unstable now that Wheezy has been released. There are multiple library transitions involved, but they're mostly self-contained in Xfce stack. In term of source package, we have a soname bump for libxfce4util (libxfce4util4 -> libxfce4util6) and an entangled transition for xfce4-panel. Basically, all plugins using libxfce4panel (which is in the binary xfce4-panel package for now) needs to be rebuilt against the new (4.10) xfce4-panel. Even more, plugins built against 4.8 panel won't run when 4.10 panel is installed. This is already handled with an shlibs, all plugins in sid currently have a: Depends: xfce4-panel (>= 4.7.7), xfce4-panel (<< 4.9) This has already been updated in xfce4-panel 4.10 to have: Depends: xfce4-panel (>= 4.9.2), xfce4-panel (<< 4.11) but we basically need a binNMU and a dep-wait for all plugins once xfce4-panel 4.10 is available in unstable. Other than those two packages, the Xfce stack shouldn't bring any difficulty. It's available in experimental since ages and most complaints have been against not having plugins rebuilt against the new panel. In any case, we're not against having Xfce 4.10 sitting in unstable for a while before migrating to Jessie. So keep us aware once it's ok to start uploading Xfce 4.10 to unstable. Thanks in advance, and congrats for the Wheezy release. Regards, -- Yves-AlexisAttachment: signature.asc
