I've been experiencing broken print output with the current cairo
version (in evince) as well [1], and there seem to be other users
affected as well.
Intrigeri has kindly prepared patches [3], mostly backports from
upstream commits, which at least fixed the problems I had with my PDF files.

I've poked Emilio to upload cairo with those patches applied.
He said he could do it early next week. If Emilio is busy then, I can
offer to NMU.

Rolf, the PDF you posted at [4] seems to show up fine in evince's print
preview with those patches applied. But if you could also test the
patches from [3] then this would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Michael
