Had this been clarified back when the problem first started happening (before the freeze) we would have had a much more recent upstream version in wheezy. The right way to fix #680824 in wheezy is probably to build-depend on ruby1.8 and Build-Conflict with ruby1.9.1 (and to disable the known-bad tests), not to fiddle with the upstream's ruby scripting in the test suite. that said: Upstream has changed radically since these test suite failures started happening, including a radical API normalization that includes an SONAME bump (see the packaging in experimental). I don't know that there's much upstream interest in maintaining any of the old versions, but i suspect that 2.20110530 would get a little bit more support upstream than 2.20100701. It looks like removing xdotool from wheezy would result in eviction of libsikuli-script-java and the dropping of a Suggests for keepass2 (and keepass2-doc? that seems weird), and loss of a Recommends for clipit. and of course the sister package keynav relies on libxdo1. I confess i'm a bit leery of having to maintain an old version of xdotool for the lifetime of wheezy, but loss of the dependencies for those other packages seems annoying enough that i'm willing to try it. If the release team doesn't think that losing those rdeps in wheezy is particularly important, then i'd be fine with dropping xdotool from wheezy. If you think it's worth it, i'll set aside some time to work on this tomorrow, to get 1:2.20100701.2961-3 to build cleanly against stock wheezy. sorry that i've been a failing maintainer for this package on this release cycle. --dkg
