debdiff from Wheezy's 2.6-1 to sid's 2.8-2 is quite big, even after
ignoring the big auto-generated files (configure, etc.) changes, so
I doubt anyone with the release team will want to review and unblock
this new upstream release at this stage of the freeze.

If one of the RC bugs fixed by 2.8-2 applies to the version in
testing, you might want to prepare an upload for t-p-u with minimal
changes, though.

(I'm not part of the release team, just trying to help a bit.)
