And after discussion with Christian and -devel/-mentors, the updated package is available at http://www.sk2.org/calibre/calibre_0.8.51+dfsg1-0.1.dsc with the same contents, packaged as version 0.8.51+dfsg1-0.1 (what a surprise!).
