Ah, I see. The version of the clean-up listed in the "Debian & Ubuntu"
section of that page looks more robust, fwiw; it won't fail if there's a
large number of files involved, and won't try to remove directories.
The request-tracker4 package uses:
find /var/cache/request-tracker$branch_version/mason_data -type f -print0 |xargs -r0 rm -f
