I'm afraid a rewritten packaging isn't something we're going to unblock, especially when moving things from dh_installdirs to *.dirs is noisy, when the debhelper build-dep is bumped, but not the compat level (it was set to 9 already, oops), when the Build-Depends gets wrapped, making it harder to spot what changed, etc. Could we see what the actual changes to the package currently in testing would be, to get the bugs fixed, with no unrelated changes? From there, we might consider an upload to t-p-u? Mraw, KiBi.
