This version just tweaks the build system a little, which undoes a reversion such that we again pass -fno-builtin-malloc to gcc, which fixes a FTBFS on many architectures (gcc mis-optimises without it). I've tested it works on i386 amd64 and armel, so the buildds should build the whole lot soon.
