An incorrectly encoded file contains strings of question marks; e.g. from
da.po in 2.17.2-7:

"/etc/fstab indeholder mindst et punkt, som er markeret som ??noauto?? med "

whereas the po in the bug report has

"/etc/fstab indeholder mindst et punkt, som er markeret som »noauto« med "
