Bug#609681: missing Catalan middle-dot ŀ / Ŀ
Package: kfreebsd-image-8.1-1-amd64
Version: 8.1+dfsg-7.1
Severity: important
Tags: d-i
D-I images (including RC1) have recently begun using the middle-dot l|L
characters (ŀ / Ŀ) for the Catalan translation. This character
is very common in Catalan and kFreeBSD is unable to recognize it, resulting
in a very ugly install screen.
I've discussed this with Catalan translator Jordi Mallach, and it seems
that reverting this change would take considerable effort (uploading
lots of packages). I don't think this request would be well received
for kfreebsd-* ports which are still in "experimental" state.
IIUC it can only be mapped to a single character, so I recommend:
{ 0x0140, 0x6c, 0x00 }, {0x013f, 0x4c, 0x00 },
which is still incorrect, but not as grossly unpleasant as what we have
currently.
-release: is this kind of fix still permissible?
