Well, I'd prefer to discuss that with eglibc maintainers and find a solution for it. But, I guess it's late now to make those changes. I hope that it will be done for Wheezy. Anyway… it's unblocked now and will migrate to Squeeze tonight. I'm also squeeze-ignoring 574990 since I don't imagine it to be fixed in time, and now that we have a "replacement".
