I'm not entirely sure from reading the transcript of #514 whether this
commit actually fixes a segfault issue, or is simply a tidy-up to
previous fixes.  The upstream changelog comment of "(see also bug 514,
comment #1)" isn't so helpful when comment #1 is a 500-line e-mail
exchange. :)

Yes.  You might want to wait until 4.0.5-5 has transitioned, though.
