So we are lucky. I'll upload a revision with unversioned 
build-depends. Thanks for your investigation.

True. The last upstream release is from August 2008. There is a new 
development release from March, but it again contains nothing terribly 
interesting.

Yet another task for a rainy Sunday afternoon, I guess :)
