Requesting a freeze exception for gpib
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hello:
We recently found some serious problems with the current gpib package
which have not been reported as bugs. Since udev has replaed hotplug for
lenny, the udev rules need to load firmware and run gpib-config.
Furthermore, since udev identifies attached devices at boot time, before
/usr is mounted, it is necessary to make executables available in /bin and
/sbin.
Because these problems can prevent the gpib package from working properly
in lenny, I am requesting a freeze exception, or at least inclusion in
lenny r1.
The latest changelog entry is attached.
Thanks,
Carlo

gpib (3.2.11-1) unstable; urgency=low

loaded
* Updated gpib.rules to automatically load firmware and run gpib_config

the
GPIB device files before running gpib_config
* libgpib-bin.postinst no longer creates GPIB device files
* libgpib-bin.postinst installs gpib.rules as a symlink in
/etc/udev/rules.d
* libgpib-bin.prerm added to remove the gpib.rules symlink
* Removed hotplug configuration files
* Binaries and shared libraries are now installed in /bin, /sbin, and
