This is probably the major problem: the lenny version is outdated and it does not work with some printers [3]. OTOH, I am not really sure if at this point of the release process a new upstream version will be ever accepted into lenny. I cc:ed the d-release mailing list to know how to proceed here: porting the fix to the outdated package or updating the new version, asking for a lenny exception.
