Not sure if I understand you here.


BTW, the reason why I find it important, is that today I tried to force
aptitude to upgrade to gcc 4.3.0-4 in my sid box; since libffi4 depends
on gcc-4.3-base  (= 4.3.0-3) , then aptitude offered to remove libffi4
and all of its tree of dependencies, that encompasses ~ 600Mb of
software , including  openoffice and +/- all of gnome, . So I had to
give up.
