Hi release team,
please consider unblocking 3.18.6-2
It contains a one-line fix, which allows etch users using dash as /bin/sh to
successfully upgrade, reported as bug #508943 [1]
I was advised on #debian-devel, that this is not an RC bug, as SUSv3 compliance
is required by the Debian Policy (since 3.7.3). This policy change was after the
etch release though, so I consider that a valid upgrade case.
I'll leave it up to the release team though, to adjust the severity, if necessary.
The changelog is:
rsyslog (3.18.6-2) unstable; urgency=low
* debian/rsyslog.postinst
- Use $(($var)) syntax for arithmetic expressions, as dash from etch is
not SUSv3 compliant in that regard which leads to failing dist upgrades
when dash is used as /bin/sh. Closes: #508943
