IMO it might be time to think about removal from > unstable as well, but I'll leave that up to the QA people. I just had a very brief look, and besides of the problems you already mentioned, I noticed that the md5sum of the orig.tar.gz differs from the upstream tar.gz (for no good reason afaics) Also, debhelper compat in debian/compat is 4, but the build-depends only has debhelper (>> 3.0.0).
