Permission to upload libvorbisidec (library package with no dependencies) to unstable?

I've packaged libvorbisidec (aka "tremor", the integer-only ogg vorbis
decoding library) for debian. Since the debian arm port has matured,
many arm machines lack an FPU, and low-power arm devices are often
used for media players, i think the library is both relevant and
useful.
I'd like to see libvorbisidec uploaded into unstable, but i don't want
to see it get in the way of the etch release. As a new library
package, it has no dependencies at the moment.
I have a willing sponsor (Wookey <wookey@debian.org>), and have
successfully tested the package (build, installation, functionality,
and removal) on current etch installations on two different
architectures (i386 and arm).
This upload would close bug #167464.
Is it OK to upload this package to unstable, or should i ask my
sponsor to wait?

PS anyone interested can pull the package from the signed apt
repository i've set up for it at:
