RC bug notes
I took another pass through the RC bug list to see if there was anything I
could help with. Patches have been added to:
ferite (#299894)
mailutils (#308031)
tftpd-hpa (#308688)
webmagick (#308755)
Most of these are very simple, trivial patches, but this should make it a
bit easier for people doing NMUs and serve as notice that another set of
eyes has looked at the problem.
Not all of these have aged sufficiently to warrant an NMU; some of these
are very new bugs.
I downgraded the severity for:
xtradius (#307796)
as the code the security vulnerability is in is not built by default,
doesn't even compile as-is in the package, and is not installed in the
binary .deb. Hope that's okay.
For people looking for other fairly straightforward problems to look at,
the following RC bugs are all file conflicts:
diablo-readerd, inn (#308862) (resolution proposed already)
libgwrapguile1 (#308499) (note from Monday saying was working on it)
libpcre3 (#308997)
parmetis-test, pimppa (#308846)
tetex-base (#309008) (I'm guessing people are already on this)
tkx8.3 (#309004)
zopectl (#309001)
I think #307548 (postfix-mysql) should probably be downgraded, as it's
only a problem for people using MySQL maps with a chrooted Postfix.
That's a bit obscure to qualify as grave, IMO.
The following look like "please remove me from sarge" bugs to me:
autopsy (#308990)
doc-rfc-3000-3999 (#287224)
gutenbrowser (#282888)
queue (#308403)
The following are license issues:
blackbox-themes (#308200)
glimpse (#308667)
mysql-nonfree-4.1 (#308680)
unrar-nonfree (#308272)
I'm guessing access to an ARM would be very helpful for figuring out
#299259 in erlang. There's a proposed solution in the bug that needs to
be tested.
I felt very unqualified to look at any of the kernel bugs, so skipped past
all of that. The package that looks like it may need the most assistance
after a superficial glance is slapd, which has four open RC bugs that
apply to the version in testing and which also really isn't something that
should be removed from the distribution. The bugs already have a fair bit
of discussion in them, though; none of them are straightforward coding
issues or the like so far as I can see.
There are a fair number of RC bugs with patches already in the BTS, more
than just mine mentioned above, so plenty of opportunities for a Debian
developer to do NMUs.
Hope this was helpful.
