This is wrong, you only need a new kernel for the true 386, and this
kernel works fine with an older libc.

All the kernel patch does is to emulate three instructions that are not 
present on the 386.

The 386 issue is an issue that must be highlighted in the release notes, 
but due to the fact that many people use self-compiled kernels, this is 
not an issue specific to older 3.0 point releases.

No, if there were upgrade problems with PostgreSQL, they would be 
solvable without touching Debian 3.0 .
