I like the idea. But then again, the package seems functional without
anything included to arrow's d/rules, it is only that the variables
in d/control are not substituted (like in particular ${R:Depends}) and
I do not want to set then manually.
The change of := to ?= in the r-cran.mk script I considered beneficial for all,
so I put it here for an opportunity to discuss it. Am less confident about the
subdir. I think I would prefer some recursive Debian packaging, instead. Like,
have arrow/r/debian introduced and the packages it comes up with would show
as packages within arrow/debian.
My motivation is the automated synchronicity between the R package and the main
library. Could imagine that other large projects would also benefit from that,
though.
