Conflict between R 4.5 and Bioc 3.20

Hi Dirk and everybody,

I just noticed that r-base 4.5.0-1 cannot migrate to Trixie because it breaks
Bioconductor 3.20, which was developed and tested upstream against R 4.4.3.

At the same time, upgrading to Bioconductor 3.21 — built and tested against R
4.5.0 — is not an option, since it was released on April 16th and Trixie entered
the freeze on April 15th.

That leaves us with three main scenarios:

 - We release with R 4.5 but without Bioconductor and its reverse dependencies.

 - We release with R 4.4.3 and Bioconductor 3.20. Fixes for current RC bugs
would likely need to go through testing-proposed-updates, which the Release
   Team generally prefers to avoid.

 - We release with R 4.4.3 by temporarily reverting r-base in Sid to that
version during the freeze. Fixes for current RC bugs could then follow the
   usual testing migration process.

None of these options are ideal, and each presents drawbacks for at least one
stakeholder. I suggest we all take a day or two to reflect on the options (and
perhaps identify alternatives we haven’t considered yet) before continuing the
discussion.

Cheers,

Charles
