Either r-cran-sp needs to revert the change that broke the autopkgtest 
of r-cran-rgdal, or the autopkgtest of r-cran-rgdal needs to be fixed 
for the changed behavior of r-cran-sp. You should do the former if the 
autopkgtest of r-cran-rgdal found a regression in the behavior of 
r-cran-sp. You should do the latter if the changes of r-cran-sp are to 
stay. I can't judge as a bystander, but as r-cran-sp is a key package, 
(saying with my Release Team member hat on) it's r-cran-rgdal that needs 
to take the action to either adapt or convince the maintainer of 
r-cran-sp to revert.
