pdftools 3.1.0 is now on CRAN. This version fixes a bug that could cause a crash with recent versions of libpoppler, which is why libpoppler 22.02 in experimental has a patch segfault-on-unset-catalog.patch. With the new version of pdftools, this patch should no longer be needed.
