Andreas, actually salsa CI passes[1] However, I was able to reproduce autopkgtest failure. Now, I went ahead and tried with the previous version as well (1.5.0) which is _also_ failing in for me locally, _but clearly_, it is passing on debci, here[2]. I would also like to mention that on running the commands manually, it works perfect for me. Looks like its a local issue for you and me, or maybe file system in chroot behaves differently. I uploaded the new upstream version, lets see if it chokes. I will report in either case.
