Bug#1120788: SDDM virtual keyboard does not work after resume from suspend/hibernate on Debian 13.2
Package: sddm
Severity: important
SDDM virtual keyboard does not work after resume from suspend/hibernate on Debian 13.2 (KDE Plasma)
Summary:
The
virtual keyboard button in SDDM works only on the first login. After
resuming from suspend or hibernate, the virtual keyboard no longer
opens.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Boot Debian 13.2 (KDE Plasma + SDDM).
2. On the initial login screen, click the “Virtual Keyboard” button — it works normally.
3. Log into the system.
4. Put the system into Suspend or Hibernate.
5. Wake the system or resume from hibernate.
6. The SDDM login screen appears, but:
- The “Virtual Keyboard” button does not respond
- No keyboard window appears
Expected result:
The virtual keyboard should open normally after suspend/hibernate, just like on the initial login.
Actual result:
After resume, the button does nothing. No virtual keyboard appears.
Environment:
- Debian version: 13.2 (Trixie stable)
- Desktop Environment: KDE Plasma
- Display Manager: SDDM (sddm.service)
Additional notes:
This
is reproducible every time. Rebooting the system restores the virtual
keyboard, but the issue returns after the next suspend/hibernate cycle.
