Package: upgrade-reports
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: boris+debian@bretonium.net
My previous release is: buster
I am upgrading to: bullseye
Archive date: before Thu Sep 2 02:22:57 UTC 2021
Upgrade date: Thu Sep 1 ~22:00 UTC+1 2021
uname -a before upgrade: missing
uname -a after upgrade: Linux stationary-pc 5.10.0-8-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.10.46-4 (2021-08-03) x86_64 GNU/Linux
Method: apt full-upgrade via internet
Contents of /etc/apt/sources.list: only default `main` repos, no
non-Debian packages, all packages upgraded successfully.
I use sddm as my desktop manager and launch kde plasma with it. I also
use autologin into my single non-root user, that was created during
installation of buster.
After the upgrade autologin failed and sddm and/or plasma crashed. There was
either a black screen or only a cursor on a black background. Logs are
in the end of the report.
The problem was in autologin and in the contents of /etc/sddm.conf. The
contents was probably something like this (it got rewritten after
reconfiguration via gui and original content lost):
[Autologin]
User=breton
Session=plasma
After i commented out these lines, i was able to log again. After
re-configuring autologin via kde gui things were still working.
I will try to reproduce it again in a VM.
