Package: kppp
Version: 4:4.4.5-2+squeeze1
Severity: normal

(Excuse me for my bad English)

I was unable to connect to Skylink operator with Celot CT-650 modem.
(Skylink is CDMA Internet provider in Moscow).

The modem is perfectly answers to ATI commands as /dev/usb0 in kppp mini-terminal.

Connection options is:
connection name = "skylink"
telephone number = #777
authorization = PAP/CHAP
callback type = none
additional pppd arguments = none
ip-address = dynamic
gateway = default;
DNS = auto;
connection script = none;
run hooks = none;
billing = none;

The error message is:

Oct 2 19:37:57 fc3 pppd[5379]: The remote system is required to authenticate itself
Oct 2 19:37:57 fc3 pppd[5379]: but I couldn't find any suitable secret (password) for it to use to do so.
Oct 2 19:37:57 fc3 pppd[5379]: (None of the available passwords would let it use an IP address.)

Workaround is:

edit /etc/ppp/options file: change option "auth" to "noauth".
After this I can connect to Skylink without problems.

Regards, Sergey.
