Bug#910539: kmail: Kmail regulary crash

Hi folks,

the cause is a poroblem with the libs in the debian repo (this is related to debian/testing)

The packaghe maintainers were too fast and added libs from version 18.XX to kmail 17.XX.

Workaround (worked for me)

1. add the following entry fopr snapshot into sources.list:

deb http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20180831T212019Z testing main

2. Run as root:

aptitude -o Acquire::Check-Valid-Until=false

3. Update the repo list in aptitude

4. search kmail and go through every lib and look for the version.

If it is 18.XX mark them to uninbstall, then markl 17.XX as install.

If a lib stays mark read, follow its dependencies and mark the dependency as install (mostly only one lib has to be marked for each lib).

5. If all dependencccies are set to 17.XX conbfirm it with pressing key "g" and key "!". (wiothout quotes).

6. Now the required libs are downgraded from 18.XX to 17.XX.

7. If done, start kmail again, should start now.

8. Remove the added entry from 1. from sources.list

Hint: You can mark these libs as "hold" until kmail_18.XX is out.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and happy hacking!

Best

Hans
