This leads to crippled packages remaining installed that got some files removed, and debsums now complains about that. I can reproduce the error in the upgrade path wheezy -> jessie -> stretch -> buster of the kde-telepathy package: 6m48.9s ERROR: FAIL: debsums reports modifications inside the chroot: debsums: missing file /usr/lib/kde4/plasma_applet_ktp_presence.so (from plasma-widget-telepathy-presence package) Please add the Breaks matching the Replaces, s.t. the cruft package plasma-widget-telepathy-presence gets finally removed on upgrades to buster.
