I had the same problem (in xfce). These are the messages in shell:

Icon theme "crystalsvg" not found.
Can not find 'kdeinit5' executable at
"/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/games:/usr/games"
"/usr/bin, /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/bin" Can not find 'kdeinit5'
executable at
"/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/games:/usr/games"
"/usr/bin, /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/bin" Can not find 'kdeinit5'
executable at
"/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/games:/usr/games"
"/usr/bin, /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/bin" kf5.kio.core: couldn't
create slave: "No s'ha pogut comunicar amb el klauncher: The name
org.kde.klauncher5 was not provided by any .service files"
KServiceTypeTrader: serviceType "ThumbCreator" not found
KServiceTypeTrader: serviceType "ThumbCreator" not found No file found
for ".xml" , even though update-mime-info said it would exist. Either
it was just removed, or the directory doesn't have executable
permission... ("/usr/share/mime") KServiceTypeTrader: serviceType
"ThumbCreator" not found KServiceTypeTrader: serviceType "ThumbCreator"

The problem is solved by installing the kinit package. 
Dear Maintainer, consider add kinit dependency on the package.
