Subject: kded5 crashes nearly every time on copying files with dolphin Package: kded5 Version: 5.28.0-1 Severity: important

nearly every time I'm moving/copying etc files with dolphin (so that the activity manager starts working), kded5 crashes, which results in a not working (unresponsive) taskbar. To get it work again I always have to switch to VT1 and then back to VT7 (so a new kded5 spawns). I have got this issue now since november. Starting with a fresh profile or removing caches and settings does not help. The only useful output is this from xsession-errors:

I can't reproduce this issue here, I suspect that there is something special in your setup that triggers the problem, but, as is, I can't think of anything.

The xsession-errors reported have a mix of things, and it would be better if you only share the entries added when you copy some files.

For instance:

ark.main: "image/jpeg" is not a supported mimetype ark.main: "image/jpeg" is not a supported mimetype

Are you using dolphin or ark? ark handles the contents of compressed files, this should be irrelevant to the reported issue, unless you are trying to copy the files from inside a compressed file.

kdeinit5: Got EXEC_NEW '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/file.so' from launcher. kdeinit5: preparing to launch '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/file.so'

This might be the copy operation.

ark.main: "inode/directory" is not a supported mimetype

Again ark.

kdeinit5: PID 2049 terminated. kdeinit5: PID 2249 terminated.

Was this caused by file.so finishing it's job? Or was it killed?

kdeinit5: PID 1648 terminated. kdeinit5: PID 2115 terminated. kdeinit5: PID 2233 terminated. kdeinit5: PID 2246 terminated.

I guess this is the kill of kded.

Happy hacking,
