Dear Maintainer,

Launching a root profile involving /bin/su --login (see below),
opens a new shell window but no password is asked and konsole gets stuck
(Closing the window on has "Application not responding").

This happens starting the konsole profile from cli
as well as from the Konsole Profiles plasma widget.

Other profiles that do not use /bin/su works correctly.
Invoking su from a user profile shell works fine.

My profile:

The regression I've described seems to be fixed by setting 'Initial directory=' instead of 'Initial directory=/root' in the Settings > Manage profiles > edit form.
This setting results in Directory= <empty> in the profile file reported below; invoking the profile does NOT hang konsole, which nicely starts a session in /root directory as expected (Apparently leaving empty the 'initial directory' field defaults to ~ of the new user, which is sensible.)
I have no idea why Directory=<empty> and Directory=/root are NOT equivalent in this case, and why the problem is not reproduced.
In later versions of konsole setting the Initial directory to /root shows the message: 

Warning: Could not start program '/bin/su' with arguments '/bin/su --login'.


Warning: chdir: Permission denied
I think that this closes the issue, although I'm not sure which version introduced the change, I'm closing it with the version currently in stretch.
