Bug#876907: /usr/bin/plasmashell: System tray popups and application menu break when virtual desktops used

Dear Maintainer,
I have been encountering the following problem:
After opening one of the System Tray popups [1] and switching to another virtual desktop without closing the popup, the popup disappears and can't be opened again (the icon in the System Tray acts as if it worked, but the content isn't visible [2]). It affects the whole System Tray at once.
The same happens to the Application Menu, although independently. (It often ends up with broken System Tray and working Application Menu, or vice versa.)
Once `plasmashell` has been restarted, the System Tray and Application Menu resume to work normally.
I have a set up with multiple Virtual Desktops which can be changed using the mouse wheel, or by using the Pager widget on the panel. In both scenarios, the popup becomes inaccessible.
