Today I had problems when upgrading debian with KDE. I had broken package qtbase-abi-5-6-1 when I had libqt5core5a (5.7.1~20161021+dfsg-4) installed.

So I did backup of most of my data and reinstalled debian. I had jessie installed on my flashstick for several months. When I installed it I did dist-upgrade to sid but I cannot upgrade it because it has unmet dependencies.

There is an ongoing qt transition that requires a number of rebuilds, the qt maintainers are working on this. You can follow the qt transition here:
https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/qtbase-abi-5-7-1.html

The broken dependencies is to be expected till the transition is over.

sid/unstable is where this kind of transitions occur, you can usually avoid getting biten by these doing a safe-upgrade instead of a full-upgrade/dist-upgrade, also reviewing the upgrade changes is always a good idea. If things go well, testing shouldn't be affected by this kind of changes. You might want to consider switching to testing.

Happy hacking,
