In Debian (testing and unstable) it's built against Qt 5: $ ldd -r /usr/lib/vlc/plugins/gui/libqt4_plugin.so | grep Qt libQt5Widgets.so.5 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Widgets.so.5 (0x00007f04d6d38000) libQt5X11Extras.so.5 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5X11Extras.so.5 (0x00007f04d6b22000) libQt5Gui.so.5 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Gui.so.5 (0x00007f04d65d9000) libQt5Core.so.5 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 (0x00007f04d6101000) Qt 4 and Qt 5 are not mixed.
