Bug#801106: sddm still fails to start

I am also having this issue after performing all available Stretch updates on 27 Oct 2015 and I figured I would chime in with my observations in the event that it might be helpful.  Looking through the Xorg.0.log file I see that the /run/dbus directory was completely missing.  I verified this looking through the file system.  I reinstalled Stretch using the Alpha 4 netinst amd64 CD.  My desktop environment was KDE Plasma 5, and I chose that as the DE on reinstall as well.  I got the same issue.  If I change the display manager from sddm to kdm the /run/dbus directory (and the socket contained within) were created.  I monkeyed around and got KDE4 to come up, but there were other problems (probably because I was messing around a lot).  The issue appears to be specific to sddm and KDE Plasma 5.
