I found the above mentioned bug in upstream which seems to explain the
situation pretty well.
I would like to see if the proposed patch can be applied.
The sad thing is that I don't think I'll manage to push it to stable, as the
next KMail version will be Qt5 based and I need to test patches before pushing
them to unstable :-/
