Package: konqueror
Version: 4:4.2.4-1
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***

In KDE 3.5, Konqueror handled directories with thousands of image
files gracefully. It was responsive and you could start browsing the
directory immediately. Konqueror in KDE 4 now stalls a lot more, so I
have to use Gwenview instead, which handles directories full of images
more gracefully with less stalling.

Another thing which stalls Konqueror is resizing the thumbnail size,
on directories with thousands of images.

Konqueror ideally should handle more things in the background, rather
than making the UI unresponsive while processing thumbnails (or
whatever is making it stall), like it did in KDE 3.5.

Version 4:4.12.4-1

Konqueror is now fast as before. The interface is responsive, even while kde
is creating the thumbnail at 3 different sizes (using split views). One can
zoom, browse, show properties, etc.
This was tested on an old P4 with 768 MB of ram. System was swaping, but
konqueror was still fast and responsive.
Closing this bug.
